yeah Todd….

The new boards are amazing I just got back from the goldcoast I got some sick waves. I have only been riding the Blackbird and the groveller so far.

The groveller is like a skate board

so loose and fast,

I have been shreding the Bondi shorey’s on it.

The blackbird held in so good on the more punchy

waves at d bah and snapper I could push it as hard

as I wanted and it would hold its rail.. EPIC STUFF!

I will let you know how the rest go when I get some more swell…

Im going to go do some whip in airs this week so I should get some nice shots.

No worries about the clothes thanks for the boards!!!!!!!

Hey Todd and Charissa,

I hope all is well!

I wanted to suggest a nickname for the Accelerator -

“The Preserver”, because that’s what this board is doing to all of my other boards on the rack.

It’s like the MVP player that is getting played the whole game, while the rest sit there sadly waiting their turn. If it’s less than ideal conditions, the Accelerator is coming out!

It flies in anything from knee high to slightly overhead and turns on a dime!

I haven’t ridden any other board in the entire rack since I picked it up from you over a month ago.  Every time I stand in front of my quiver, the

Accelerator calls to me,

almost glowing from the pack,

reminding me of how many waves I catch, the speed it generates, the turns, and how no wave seems to be a close out on this board.

Though I know winter swells will bring out the Blackbird and SR71s, for now, the fall doldrums are perfectly fine since I found the Accelerator!

I had a contest 2 weekends ago and didn’t even bring any other boards other than the Accelerator and I usually bring minimum of 3-4.  I made the finals again, by the way!

Thanks so much for the support!  Take care and God Bless!

Hello Todd,Charissa,and Katie

Just wanted say how great it was to see you at Sacred Craft. You guys had a sweet booth! Hope it was a success!

Also wanted to

thank everyone for the personal attention paid to making my new board.

I surfed Tuesday and Wednesday morning in shifty, offshore Hueneme barrels, and the board is amazing!

It’s light, loose, and responsive.

I am looking forward to ordering
the big brother soon!

Thanks again!
See you all soon

It’s perfect….it’s a perfect board….
I still have never caught a rail on this thing.

It’s fast. It’s epic. I can do anything I want

Charissa,

Sorry I have not had a chance to give you any feed back on the the new board.

Let Todd know that board just goes off!

He was spot on about the Greased Pig being the right board.

I have been riding it in everything out here

from waist high mush balls to head high barrels and it handles it all.

As always thanks for the magic board!

Hey Todd the greased pig I got - the titatanium series,
surfed it in solid six foot waves at 13th beach today.
seems the bigger the waves with more push the better it goes.
I’m stoked.

It has raised some eyebrows, surf has pumped for 6 weeks here.

Todd and Charissa,

Well this email is horribly late but I blame that solely on the board you made me.  The lime green 5′9″ x 19″ 7/8 x 2″ 3/4 Rascal II you built for me is in a word…. “insane”.  I have literally ridden it for 4 weeks straight every single day of the week and am continually impressed with how it performs.

It has turned around what would normally be a boring surf sessions in gutless surf into killer sessions.

The board just kind of lifts up underneath your feet giving you a gliding/ skimming feeling that I have not experienced before.

My surfing has never looked or felt better and I can’t thank you enough for that!

I know that this board is reported as a “small wave / gutless surf” board, but I have to say

it is one of the most versatile boards
I have ever ridden.

With the 5 fin setup, I can make adjustments for when faces start jacking up to give the board more bite into the wave (It ripped right through pumping head high to HH+ waves).  The waves have gotten quite a bit bigger the last two days and I moved back to my standard shortboard……

I lasted for all of 4 rides before I pulled the Rascal II out again.

That would be my only complaint about this board,

I want to ride it in everything!!

I will definitely be calling upon you in the future for another board.

Thanks again to both of you!  Todd for making the board I always wanted and Charissa for being hands down the coolest person to do business with.

Hey Todd:

Been awhile since I picked up the boards, but I wanted to let you know that they both work unreal.

I have never had boards that are so light and responsive as this. Especially like the Pig and have surfed it in head high waves.

Been on that board alot. Waiting for a little more juice to get the Accelerator going, but so far I am totally satisfied. I think you dialed in exactly what I needed in both boards and it feels like my surfing has gone to the next level. The rest of my boards are just collecting dust right now!

And thanks for the personal service. Best custom service I have had.

You have a great operation and I like that fact that you treat everyone with equal respect and attention. I will be coming back for more, if these Proxy’s ever give out!

Off to Costa Rica next month and will send you some photos. Wanted to check to make sure there
are no issues with the Proxy’s when traveling or in the heat. Let me know if they require any special
care.

Best to you and Charissa.

Thanks for the update. I’ve been meaning to get back to you regarding the board you shaped me last January, the Groveler IV.

The thing works amazing, plus it’s one of the strongest board I have ever owned.

To say that Todd Proctor shapes to precision the absolute best surfboards in the USA would be the understatement of the decade!

In fact, it would be erroneous and rather misleading, as I can say with the utmost confidence that a board shaped anywhere on this planet cannot hope to compete with the perfection in craftsmanship that Todd Proctor engineers into each and every board that he designs.

When purchasing a board from this legend, not only are you investing in a genuine work of art that will boost your surfing to the next level and rocket you into (Slater-like) pro staus

…but the conductor of this surfing symphony himself will spend the necessary time with you to find out what type of masterpiece you want him to create for you.

When you get your board shaped by Todd Proctor you are the pro…
Like Todd always says “The best surfers in the world are the ones having the most fun”
… and all that I can add to that is… “as long as you’re on a PROCTOR SURFBOARD!”

So, in the end, if your surfboard is “just” a floating foam log and it doesn’t become an extension of your own surfing soul while you’re in the ocean … then, my friend, you must do what the rest of us (some pro, some “almost” pro - but we all like to be treated like one) did…

… GET A PROCTOR SURFBOARD,
AND GO SURFING FOR THE FIRST TIME… AGAIN

Cause if you’re not riding a PROCTOR SURFBOARD
you may as well…

GO BOOGIE BOARDING!!!

Best boards in the whole bloody world mate!!!

Todd Proctor would be innovation, determination and communication.”

Hey Todd,

Board works Unreal! Turn to Turn it is the fastest board Ive ever had.
I can do a quickest round houses I think ever!

Insane: Rail to Rail, Light, Quick, Responsiveness.

I think overall the board is insane! Best epoxy I’ve every ridden.

Hey Todd and Charissa,

I got the board yesterday and was psyched to see the sickest looking board ever on my couch. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to use it until today and even though it missed the best part of this fun little jersey swell we had, I did get to ride it all morning on the tail end of the swell, in waist high and glassy surf. I was very happy to find that the board backed up it’s sick looks in the water.

After only my first ride I realized that your on to something special over there in Ventura.

Everything seems effortless and flowing on my new board, from the takeoff all the way to the kickout. It robert crane, custom surfboarddefinitely helps me throughout every single one of my turns, I can kind of feel it finishing off my roundhouse for me, which is pretty sick seeing as I’ve been working on it for months on my old board and now I can finally get it all the way around in one smooth motion.

On some of the bigger sets, I could actually feel this flex thing you were talking about, almost as if the board was slinging me through the turns,

especially when I really put some power into it (powerful for the 125 pound ME that is). It’s fast but not too fast where I’m out in the flats, and it paddles and rides like a dream. Plus its really light, which is awesome because I’m too light to be handling a PU the way I can handle this one. I couldn’t have asked for more.
This was my first experience ordering a custom board, and I was very very surprised. I went in expecting to ask for a board model and dimensions and any other specifications and that’s it. As evidenced by over 20 emails between myself and you, this was a very interpersonal project, with input and suggestions from both sides.

Honestly, this “talk to the shaper” thing is no baloney.

You said that I’d be stoked on a

Hey Todd,

Since were payin the price for all the nice surf in July, just thought I’d thank you again for the board. This time, however, I have some nice pictures from some of the fun little swells we’ve had. Thanks again for the board,

it goes so great in all the conditions I’ve tried it in.

Enjoy the rest of the summer out in Ventura,

Hope its not as flat as here.

Hello charissa, hello Todd!

I’m letting you know that I got the new board this week. Package was top notch and the board arrived in 1 piece.
For your future customers I sincerely think that you
should warn them about your surfboards.

I missed almost 2 days of work since I received mine.

It rides so good it’s just not sane…

I’ve never had a board so responsive, nervous and fun to ride. Ever get the feeling to just scream after landing a trick because it feels sooo good?
Well this is how I feel just about every 2 minutes spent in the water. My boss sent someone to pick me up at my favorite spot today to take me out of the water, I’m forced to work now.

I could not be more pleased!

Holy Shakas Todd! The Rascal II is absolutely insane. I’ve surfed it
nonstop since picking it up from you, and I’m loving it.

This is not just a small wave board; it’s an all around awesome board for

everything from knee high dribblers to head high peelers.

No need to grab the shortboard for the average good days.

The Rascal II is so manueverable, fast, and

Good morning Todd, it’s Dale Rhodes…how are you? It’s 10:00 on Tuesday. Happy Holidays. The board worked amazing. I didn’t get to ride it in any big surf….Saturday, West PDS was well overhead and I didn’t wanna go in it with that board until I got used to it. But

I rode it twice in waist to chest-high surf… and it’s very responsive, very fast, I love it.

I was able to acclimate to that board quite quickly. So I just wanna let you know I’m super impressed with the board, it works amazing. And I haven’t even ridden it in really good surf yet, so I think I’m in for a treat. But anyways, I just wanted to give you that feedback cuz I’m sure that you wanted to hear about it. So give me a call back because I want to order another one in another length. And that’s that. Hopefully you guys had a beautiful Christmas and I will talk to you later.

Thank you. Bye.

Todd / Charissa,

Sorry it took so long for me to write but it was awhile before we received some good swell for me to give the board a going over and since then

I have been having the most fun in my life surfing with it.

But before I get to the board I wanted to thank you for the most impressive service I’ve seen in awhile. You both were easily accessible, I never had to wait long for any sort of response to
questions and I felt the service was done with a smile. From Todd calling me in Spain and taking his time to discuss the board with me to Charissa keeping me updated on its progress, the service was high class all the way.

Now about the board….

First off it looks totally sick.potsep1.jpg

The kevlar looks awesome as does the greyish color from the glassing. Combined with the digital camo that you put on the bottom of the board it looks totally insane. I received tons of looks and comments about how incredible it looks and needless to say I love it.

As for the performance,

I don’t know what you do Todd but you must

cast a spell or sprinkle magic dust over it or something because this

hands down performs better then any other board I have tried.

I thought after reading your testimonials that maybe it was just a lot of hype but no - the board actually contains the properties of magic.
It almost feels like it is spring loaded just waiting to be fired. The best part about it has to be the way it handles turns as this is when it really shows its quality. The speed you get when coming off of the top of the lip is incredible.

You can feel the board ’spring’ off of the top and it feels a little like a sling shot.

I can’t stress enough how much better this aspect of the board is compared to other boards I’ve ridden. I seriously feel like I’m “flying” coming off the lip and down the face.

Since I have had the board I feel like I have taken my

surfing to a new level and I’m having way more fun in the water.

I also feel like you listened during our consultation interview to what I needed. The board is a nice balance for taking my surfing a level up yet keeping in mind my level of experience and size.

You shaped it spot on.

Anyway I couldn’t have asked for anything more and you can count me as your customer for life. I’ve attached a photo of the underside of the board and will send some more when I can get some shots of it in the water. Keep up the great work and service. If you guys ever head to Spain or Portugal let me know and maybe we can meet up and ride a few.

Muchas gracias por todo. Mis mejores deseos.

Hey Todd,

Well Todd what can I say the board that you shaped for me is

everything that I could have wanted and truly is a magic board!

The air brush work turned out great and I really like the gun metal grey color of the board. The board is a rocket Todd! I find myself being able to surf the wave top to bottom and really link turns together where before I was always looking for speed this board gains speed through every turn. The fact that the board is is so light, strong, and precise blows my mind.

After surfing my magic board that you shaped, I feel like I have been stuck surfing in the 80’s!

Your boards and the technology that you are incorporating into the flexible epoxy is amazing! I am sold to say the least and I do not hesitate to show and educate my friends and folks that I work with about your boards and how far a head of the rest that you shapes are!

The reason it took so long to reply to you and give you some feed back is because the waves have really been lacking on the southeast coast of NC. We are all really disappointed that we have yet to get a real winter swell! It has not been bigger than a very weak head high wave. I cannot wait to get the board into some waves with a little more juice behind them so that I can let loose! Don’t get me wrong even in the small crap knee - waist I can surf the board no problem! The swells that we have been getting are usually waist to shoulder with not to much power, but

the Groveler has no problem finding speed and busting the fins out the back!

Well Todd thank you again so much for shaping me a magic board I look forward to getting many more boards shaped by you, you are the man!

Happy Surfing,

Todd,

I think you nailed it. This one is alive. Keeping it a bit straight between the feet really gets it going quickly. It’s almost like I gain speed in tighter areas and don’t need as much room to drive it, lets me keep a higher line effortlessly. It compliments the increased tail rocker perfectly. After hitting the lip I’m going from 12:00 to about 4:00. The first few times caught me by surprise.

There’s nothing like a big hack when you know everyone saw it.

Cutbacks are really tight as well. A minor shift in weight is all it needs.

After 20 or so sessions I’m having a blast with it.

It’s been a while since I’ve been this connected to a board.

Thanks a bunch and God Bless.

Hi Todd,
I’m loving the boards you’ve shaped me, especially the 6′5″ Groveller IV/D.Y.L. quad. It’s really quick and snappy.

In good chest to head high waves it makes me feel like a better and faster surfer than I really am!

I’d like to talk with you about a lil rascal quad. What length/width do you think would work best for me? I’m 6′2″ tall and 185 lbs. My regular shortboard is your 6′5″ x 19 5/8 and it works great for me unless the waves are really mushy, then I go to a thicker, wider and flatter hybrid shortboard/fish which is also a 6′5″.
For the rascal, I’m thinking in the range of 5′11″ to 6′2″, but I guess it depends on the width and thickness so I want to leave it up to your judgement.
I’d like to go with your epoxy again, it’s amazingly durable (I STILL haven’t had a real ding on my 6′5″ in a year and a half!!!). I want to do a deck patch under my front foot.
I think I will finally break down and get some color on this board, maybe some kind of crazy orange/yellow/red/black mix or maybe blue and yellow, but I don’t have anything specific in mind here, so go nuts and make it look rad!
I’m available Friday anytime between noon and 5 PM if you have time for a quick call then, I think it will only take a couple minutes to talk through the details, then I’ll put down a deposit.

The boards made it all in one piece! They look amazing! I can’t wait to ride it!!!! Thank you both so much for all the attention and patience!!!!!

The Twin Fang is absolutely beautiful! It is exactly how I imagined it..only better in real life! It is the perfect size and width. The red and yellow is amazing!! Todd and Charissa,

OK, I got the board out yesterday and it paddled like a longboard and smoked down the line like a jet!

It took me by surprise the first 5 or 6 rides because after 15 years of longboarding I never knew something can move that smooth and that fast…I was stoked! This board also had a lot of Japanese surfers asking who the shaper was and when this is coming to Japan! I guess first impressions are everything. Just to bad I don’t surf any where as great as Jay Phillips!!!!!! But after a few seasons on this Twin Fang…who knows! Thanks again Proctor family! You both are the BEST!

I finally got the Quad out and it was RAD!

I couldn’t believe how light and fast it was! It turns on a dime too!

The Twin Fang was a really good training tool because the transition was really, really easy! First day out and it was 6ft and FUN!

Thanks! I love it. I am never going back to longboarding ever again!

Todd & Charissa,

Our boards got here yesterday. I was really stoked when I saw mine and couldn’t wait to get it wet. The timing couldn’t have been any better either. All last week was flat and today a pretty good bump came in. We had about a four hour clean head high session. The board performed just as I imagined,

it felt as if it were an extension of body.

I came in and I’m resting now. The afternoon should be a little onshore and about chest. I think I’ll give it a run as a twin. I haven’t retired the long but I don’t it’ll be seeing action for a while.

Muchos Thanks,

Sorry it took so long to write about your boards that you shaped for me before Christmas. I just returned from a 3 week trip down in Morocco and was finally able to put them thru their paces that they deserved. So…

proctor surfboards round nose fish, lil’ rascal
6′1″ x 20 1/2″ x 2 5/8″ Lil’ Rascal

Surfed in head high mushy point surf and what a blast!!!

She was such a skatey, slippery little board that after a couple of waves just worked like a dream. Lot of speed off the bottom, loose anywhere on the wave and a great laugh. All who saw her were very impressed with the shape and fin system. Great choice

My work horse. Surfed this from shoulder high to solid 6-7′ points. Was a great board in the beefier waves. Pushed back when I needed it out on the shoulder for cutties,

paddled like a dream, very fast around sections and held suprisingly well in the hollow stuff.

At my first impression upon opening, she seemed pretty over built and to be honest she is for a lot of occassions. A lot of thickness everywhere. I asked you for an all around board and you did a good job. Next time will probably go a little smaller in size and thickness. Overall, was very pleased with the board, again, another good choice.

surfboard review: custom groveler shortboards, all around performance

Surfed in 7′-10′ Anchor Point. Now this board was such an amazing ride. Paddleing out on that big day with new board I was a little concerned. But as soon as I made it out the back a wave popped up just in front of me. And from the the paddle in to the finish, I just shat myself!!!! Paddled in soooo easy and early and once to my feet was no kidding and I hate the expression, ‘like a magic carpet ride.’ The board had so much speed and control, glided around sections easily, turning off the bottom was always controlable, was unlike any board I had ever ridden.

For the next 2 hours I had one of the best sessions of my life on that board

and can only wait to ride it once again.

As for the office side of your buisness, I found Charissa very helpful and pleasant. Her side was as good as the boards you made me.

I have to say that when I find myself back in Cali and I need a new board I will definetly be giving you a call for my next shape.

Cheers Todd and Charissa

Hey Todd:

Been awhile since I picked up the boards, but I wanted to let you know that

they both work unreal.

I have never had boards that are so light and responsive as this. Especially like the Pig and have
surfed it in head high waves. Been on that board alot. Waiting for a little more juice to get the
Accelerator going, but so far I am totally satisfied.

I think you dialed in exactly what I needed in both boards and it feels like my surfing has gone to the next level.

The rest of my boards are just collecting dust right now!

And thanks for the personal service. Best custom service I have had. You have a great operation
and

I like that fact that you treat everyone with equal respect and attention.

I will be coming back for more, if these Proxy’s ever give out!

Off to Costa Rica next month and will send you some photos.

Best to you and Charissa. Richard, Venice Beach, CA

Well just to let you know, I have been surfing for 25 years , not a beginner for sure. I know when a board works even before it touches the water. At first I was a little skeptical about the new technology and I was watching the board all the time wondering if that thing was going to work…, man you got it ,
if the surfboards are going to change that’s the way.

This is what I’ve been looking for 25 years -

responsive, light, super strong and the best is - it’s the fastest board I have ever ridden….

I got to surf it in big and small conditions and works in all kinds of surf. It’s worth the extra $ really.
Well just so you know, I am not looking back. You got another customer.
Thanks man and God bless you.

Charissa,

You must have read my mind, I was planning on e-mailing you tonight.

I finally did get to ride the board for the first time Sunday and I am extremely happy!!!! The board is sick, it works just as Todd said it would. Ironically the waves on Sunday were prime for that board with knee to waist high flat faced swell and

…It worked magically, The board is fast with great performance…

and it catches the small stuff without my help.

I was surfing with one of my bro’s who rides a 6′-0″ fish religiously and I was dropping in before he was standing. He usually has the advantage when I ride my Lost, but he could not believe how smooth and fast it was working. Thanks to both of you for all your help and terrific service.

Tell Todd I would not hesitate to order in the future and I am trying to talk a few of my bro’s into getting a board.

Todd,
The Groveler IV-p has been amazing. The dimensions you recommended for this particular board

did exactly what you said it would do which was open up my surfing.

I’ll try and list what I am noticing on my board:

*The Board paddles great.
*The speed generated after the first pump is allowing me to start my turns earlier on the wave and not worry so much about trying to pump my way down the line wasting valuable wave time to set up the one or two turns I’ll get here at most of the beach-breaks.
* I am getting in tighter turns on the face.
* The rail is holding in really well on waves that are two feet over head .

Thanks again Todd, Zach Steele

Hey Todd,
Mark St. Johns here. Just surfed Zuma for about 3 ½ hours on my Le Vee. Is it Levee or Le Vee? Anyway, that thing is freaking sick man. It was probably knee-high to waist-high with a few chest-high sets. Kinda mushy, occasionally a decent wave came in.

That board just generates its own speed, I’m tellin’ ya, I love it.

Oh by the way, Dale Rhodes text messaged me this morning. I guess he surfed PDS on his new board, he loves it. You are gettin’ some props my man. Proctor! Yes! Talk to ya later buddy, bye.

Hi Todd,

Thank you for the info.
The Levee is doing great. It took me sometimes to get used to it, I don’t know if it’s because of the quad fins set up but

i didn’t like the board at the beginning. But now i love it,

in the small waves the board is very fast and responsive but I use it also in bigger waves like overhead and the board is great. Right now it’s my daily board.
Thanks for the good job.

Todd,

I’ve found the board is flying on the quad mode

which is good for when it’s either really small or else ledgy and barreling. You were right though, it doesn’t hook straight up and down like a tri. Used as a tri it is a little slower than the quad, but goes top to bottom easier for good rail to rail surfing. Your flexible epoxy is noticably livelier than the Surftechs and a good deal

lighter, too. I am absolutely stoked on your boardline and can’t wait to work on another couple.
Thanks for everything Todd and Charissa.

Custom Quad Fin Surfboards - Detail your Board with the Shaper

Hey Todd,

I hope all is going well and you guys are getting tons of waves from this swell!!

I wanted to give you some feedback on the Blackbird, the best board I have EVER ridden.

This board is everything you said it would be and more. Since picking it up last weekend, I have ridden it at head high Trestles, head high Swami’s and 10-12 foot closed out Mission Beach (for a contest - not by choice). First off, this board is so fast right from the take off, I find myself confidently freefalling into waves five feet behind the peak and zipping right into position. When coming off the top, it releases like no other, actually pushing your lips higher and projecting you through the turns down the line. The tail will bust out insanely at times, especially on the backside, totally breaking free and reengaging for some pretty solid comments from people watching. I found moving the back foot up off the fins helps it go through the high tide mushy spots with no loss of speed and keeps it really manueverable. This may be the board of all boards, if you can think it, you can do it! It truly goes where you want it to. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to take their surfing to the next level! I’ll give you some feedback on the Greased Pig soon, but fortunately the waves haven’t been small enough for it yet! HA!

We had the fourth contest at solid 10 - 12′ Mission Beach yesterday and I had a near drowning incident involving EMT, lifeguards etc. It wasn’t the board, but instead the little string on the leash broke leaving me in a rip tide with no board, a filled wetsuit and a 6 wave set on the head. Despite my near tragedy, the Blackbird made it out of the carnage fine and I still made it to the finals even with the one wave I had in the semis.

I can’t believe the Blackbird sustained no damage - that foam must be kriptonite,

because I took the one that broke my brand new leash right on the back. The whole contest crew was on their feet watching and just in awe that the board didn’t break (not a scratch!). It was one of those scenes where everyone went, ‘Ohhhhhhh!’.

I am thinking of backing it up with an SR71 and maybe an Ante Up / SR71. Here are some thoughts / questions:

1) Would you recommend making any adjustments from the Blackbird to SR71 (length, width, etc) based on the differences between the two boards?
2) Would you recommend decreasing the widepoint of 18.5 if I went up by an inch to 6.1 for the SR71 or can I leave it alone?
3) On the Ante Up, if I get into a Big Rock / Point Mugu situation w/ a lot of water moving and offshores, do I want a PU w/ heavier glass or a Proxy?

Thanks Todd and Charissa for all the support! Check the shots of Braeden practicing his pig dog on the

Greased Pig!

God Bless,

Paul

Hey Todd and Charissa,

I’m stoked you guys got some juice from the last swell. Yeah, I’m alright, but did have to go to the ER for a bacterial infection in my lungs that didn’t crop up for several days.

I was able to paddle out today on the Greased Pig and I’ve got to tell you, you’ve hit another HOMER, man!

You are batting 1000 with my quiver so far, bro. That Greased Pig model just flies in the small stuff and even some sneaker overhead bowls that were making it through. I was getting 4 - 5 hits on waves and flying past sections others had no chance of making. It’s weird, but I feel like I’m looking at the waves a little differently on your boards. I’m feeling way more confident. If you take the high line on the Greased Pig, there aren’t many waves it won’t fly past!

It’s just a really fun board that makes surfing less than ideal waves amazing!

I can’t stop thinking about the SR71 and am thinking of backing up the Blackbird with a couple

.

What do you think of these dimensions?

Board 1

SR71, 6′ 0.5″, 11.25, 18 7/16, 14, 2 3/16 FCS, PROXY, standard squash, safety nose (blunt 1/2″ like you did on the Greased Pig)

Board 2

SR71, 6′1″ , 11.25, 18.5, 14, 2 3/16, FCS, PROXY, rounded squash, safety nose

Let me know on these 2. I’m firing to try them.

Paul

Hi Charissa and Todd,

The board made it safe and sound - I got it this afternoon. Wow, every one of your boards looks like it will ride more insane than the last!! I am so glad we went with a little shorter template - this board looks great!!!!

Thanks Todd and Charissa! Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

I tested the board out today at Boneyards just north of Swamis this afternoon.
I really like how it rides.
It definitely has more drive off the bottom than other fish I have had, and can go vertical pretty easy.

Lots of speed coming through turns. I think it will be a great all-round everyday board for me.

The volume, size, concaves, paint job all turned out exactly how I wanted them.

Thanks for the great board!

Hey Todd and Charissa,

First of all, thanks for making my magic board.

That board has taken my surfing to the next level.

I don’t know if you remember, but you shaped me a levee and sent it to Okinawa a few months ago. I wanted to loosen up the board with some new fins. I was looking at the FYU fiberglass, but before I ordered I wanted to make sure you had some in stock. I also wanted your opinion on those fins before I get them. Thanks

Hi Todd,

To start with, I hope everything is going well for you up there in Ventura. With the sudden interest in epoxy technologies, I’m guessing you’re still really busy.

With all the surfboards you make, being that I have only ordered the one with you so far, you’re probably don’t remember me. I ordered my board at the beginning of the year, picked it up at the beginning of April, and am just now taking the time to write you an email. The board I ordered from you was a flexible-epoxy, 6’3” x 19” x 2.5” Groveler IV.P
I gave you a try because I had read and heard about your unique epoxy, and in light of the foam fiasco, decided to invest in someone trying to do something different. Because the board was made with something completely different from what I’ve ridden for the last 17 years, I was expecting it to take a while to get used to.

What I found is that right away I liked it.

It felt more lively and quick than my other boards, and not at all too stiff.

After a little while I was quickly able to utilize the unique rocker combination you have on this board. Because I’m a bigger guy, I have always ordered my boards wider and flatter for the average days to help with speed. However, now I realize that I was starting to go too flat, especially in the tail, because on your board I can step back and really pivot the board quickly, kinda like a skateboard. If I need speed, I just center my weight and take advantage of the flatter mid-section. The bump in the tail helps keep it loose, and by going less wide it feels quicker rail to rail.

So now I’ve had the board a few months and surfed it in all kinds of waves and conditions.

What’s been great is that the board still feels very alive, and I feel like I’m surfing better. I have even had someone tell me (actually the shaper who I used to get boards from) “that board really works good for you.” On top of that, I still have not had to fix one single ding.

A lot of my friends have started riding the EPS/Epoxy combinations and generally like them. Although that structure seems to yield even lighter boards than your flexible epoxy, they seem to not hold up as well.

I’m glad to see that the hard work of many who have been looking at alternatives for years are finally getting recognition. I admire the people who have been trying something different (with the exception of a certiain “pop-out” company and its owner).

Again, thank you for taking the time to talk over the details of the board and then providing exactly what I was looking for. I hope your innovations and technologies allow you to keep making great boards while also allowing you to make a good living. Keep up the good work- Pr. 22:29

Todd,

Here is a follow up to the 6′2″ x19 x2 7/16″.
This board is amazing.
It gets into waves very easily, and paddles well. It is fast on the take off, and with a small pump has great bursts of speed around sections and down the line. I find it quick turning and very responsive. . .

I have only surfed the board a few times in waist to shoulder high Staircase(mushy), but so far the board has exceeded expectations.

Thank you again for making magic boards and spending the time to be sure my needs are met.
I fell honored to have a dedicated master craftsman making boards for a 40 year old kook like me. My available time to surf is very limited and having the right board makes each session that much better.

I got to ride my board Saturday at Saltcreek and I had a blast. The waves were small but the board was awesome! It turns so well off the bottom and carves very well.

Of all the custom boards I have had made for me, this one by far is the MAGIC :) one!

I love the way it looks-super clean. The board floats me perfectly and I feel real confident on it. Thanks again and I look forward to working with you again.

Todd,
Just want to let you know the small wave board is working great. It was just what I was looking for! I tried it with the twin fins and it was crazy, it was all I could do to keep the board under me. I will try it again once I get my feet back. Only being able to surf 4 times for the past 3 years, it will take me a little to get everything back. I have not tried the other 2 but I know they will work, the last ones were perfect.

Northern Japan actually has some good waves. I have only been able to make it out a few times but it has been chest to head and glassy in the early morning. I have heard this pretty much what to look for all winter with some bigger ones every once in a while. Now I just have to get use to the cold.
The water is about 48 but the air is 30 and both are only getting colder.

I was looking at the site and the new “Ridiculous” board looks insane. I will have work on getting some funds up for that.

Thanks for everything!

Following up on the other email…

I don’t think I’ll ride anything but a flexible epoxy for a long time.

I had ridden an epoxy board before, a “ST”, made with the usual PVC sandwich. I actually liked the board, being lighter and stronger, but it was nothing like your board.

I think that you have really perfected it, having the durability and the light weight, but with a board that has some real spring.

I rode it every day in Cabo and within the first few rides I was just sitting there, thinking that this was the best board I’d ever ridden. I really noticed it through my turns.

The board would curve with the wave and then spring me through my turns as I came around. The flexible epoxy has made me a better surfer and much more fluid.

Out of the two models, I got the lighter board with more flex and it’s a lot like your standard high performance shortboard with 4 oz. glassing, but better. It flexes, making turns harder and faster… just think about a snap, the tail of the flexible epoxy tweaks back and then snaps forward. I felt so much better and smoother.

It was just sick, the way it climbs foam and the way it works with you, flexing and snapping.

Thanks a lot Todd, for getting me the board before my trip and that nasty spray job

HEY,

HOPE YOU GUYS ARE DOING GREAT. JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW HOW GOOD YOUR BOARDS WORKED FOR ME .

GOT BACK FROM COSTA RICA TWO WEEKS AGO, TOOK THE 6′4″ AND THE 7′0″ WITH ME. RODE THE 6′4″ ALL OVER THE PLACE FROM WAIST TO HEAD HIGH AND I WAS SO CONFIDENT ON IT. AFTER BEING OUT OF THE WATER FOR 2 AND A HALF YEARS THAT BOARD MADE ME CATCH UP WITH MY SURFING. BEST BOARD I EVER OWNED. RODE THE 7′0″ IN HEAD HIGH WAVES IN PLAYA HERMOSA. IT WAS SO EASY TO PADDLE ON BIGGER WAVES AND AFTER DROPING IN IT’S JUST SO FAST.

WHEN I GOT BACK TO FLORIDA I HEARD WE HAD A STORM BRINGING SOME SWELL . BEING MY FIRST SWELL IN FLORIDA I STARTED ASKING ALL THE LOCAL KIDS HOW BIG IT WAS GOING TO GET AND THEY WERE ALL SAYING DOUBLE OVER HEAD WHICH WAS !@#$%^&*. SO I DECIDED TO BUY A BOARD ON ONE OF THE LOCAL SHOPS. BOUGHT A 6′6″ SHARP EYE BIG GUY BOARD, WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING? I DON’T KNOW IF IT WAS THE BOARD OR ME( HOPEFULLY IS WAS THE BOARD, HAHAHA) BUT DEFINITELY I DID NOT HAVE FUN IN THE WATER. THE BOARD HAD NO STABILITY AT ALL WHEN I WAS BEGINING TO STAND UP.DEFINITELY GETTING RID OF IT.

DECIDED TO GO BACK WITH MY 6′4″ PROCTOR AND I SURFED SO GOOD I EVEN GOT BARRELED IN MAYPORT POLES, WHICH I THINK IS THE BEST WAVE I RIDDEN IN FLORIDA.

WELL, I’M GOING OUT TO SEA FOR SEVEN MONTHS IN TWO WEEKS SO I’M PLANNING ON LOOSING A LOT OF WEIGHT SO I CAN ORDER A BRAND NEW THREE BOARD QUIVER FROM YOU GUYS AND TAKE THEM BACK HOME TO PUERTO RICO WHEN I’M DONE IN THE NAVY. THANKS FOR SHAPING ME THESE TWO AWESOME BOARDS. I’LL BE CALLING YOU GUYS FROM SOMEWHERE OVERSEAS TO PLACE MY ORDER AND HAVE MY NEW BOARDS BY THE TIME I GET BACK TO THE STATES.

Todd,

Buying a new board is a scary thing, because you never know what you are going to get.

Thanks for taking the time to make my board RIGHT.

I was so nervous shopping for a new board that i went around asking different surfers how they liked their board, and asking different shapers what they recommended to me but i was still unsure where to go. I was recommended to you by a friend and so here i am. I just got my new custom board in the mail this morning and i couldn’t have asked for more. I unpacked it and sped straight to the beach, and got some great rides. It was so different for me to have a board that responded to my moves instead of going through the motions yourself while your board is doing it’s own thing. (man… people look dumb when that happens). The bottom line is, I can tell that you put your heart into the board and made sure that it was best for me. and by the way it has some sick graphics on it! you’re right Todd that wave is SWEEET.
